If you have got an upcoming interview, though, you will find that you really have to gain rapport in the first few moments of your interview. Within half a minute your interviewer will have basically decided whether they are going to use your answers to justify selecting you or rejecting you. Be warned. Get prepared. Read on:
1. You can never be too polite to the person that directs to your waiting area when waiting to be interviewed. A small gesture like, asking how they are doing can work wonders for you when you leave the building later.
2. There are interview panels who will keep you waiting and have people watch you in the waiting area. Keep your cool. Smile a lot. Look keen and interested.
3. Offer a firm handshake when you look at your interviewer in the eye. Make sure that you are smiling.
4. Wait to be asked to be seated. It's interview etiquette.
5. Dress as well as you can afford. Dress smartly and conservatively.
6. Demonstrate that you are organised. Have everything that you need for the interview to hand.
7. Don't be stuffing your face with food or drinks whilst waiting your turn for the interview.
8. Dont chat on your cell phone while waiting for your interviewer. It makes you look distracted.
