SIBU: The military is now considered a career of choice among Malaysians, said Army Chief Jen Datuk Zulkifeli Mohd Zin.
This was evident from the overwhelming response to its recruitment drives nationwide, he said.
“Many of the applicants, if they are unsuccessful in their first attempt, will not hesitate to go for a second or third attempt.
“Even retired military personnel are now encouraging their children to join the force,” said Jen Zulkifeli when breaking fast with officers and personnel of the Third Royal Rangers Regiment of the Ulu Oya Camp and the Ninth Brigade at the Rascom Camp near here on Friday.
Jen Zulkifeli attributed the popularity of a military career to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s efforts when he was the defence minister.
“He has introduced a better salary scheme, perks and other privileges.” — Bernama
