KOTA KINABALU: Although entrepreneurship or business is beginning to be recognised as a field capable of bringing good income, it is still not the career choice of the youth, said state Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Hajiji Noor.
He said the government was actually giving much encouragement to the bumiputera particularly the youths to be involved in the field of entrepreneurship.
"Much encouragement and support have been given by the government to this group of people to start business according to their interest and inclination.
"Various courses in skills and entrepreneurship have been implemented either by the government or the private sector for them to be exposed in those fields but to date the involvement of the youths is still small compared to other careers," he said when opening the Sazarice-Sabah Mega Karnival 2011 at Likas
Sports complex, here tonight.
He said if the youths were smart in making use of the opportunity given, the
courses in skills and entrepreneurship offered were capable of creating successful entrepreneurs in various fields.
Hajiji hoped that these efforts would be continued and the government was always giving encouragement to business development so as to enhance the economy of the people and hence the country's economic development. - Bernama
